Ann lives with PoTS and ME/CFS herself, and previously with persistent pain, and so has both an evidenced based clinical understanding and a lived experience understanding. Ann has been able to improve PoTS to an extent that meant it was possible to wean off medication. Essential elements in doing this included daily nervous system regulation practices, pacing of activities, exercise (with vey very slow progressions) and time.

Best practice is to treat body and mind (body mind) which are inextricably interlinked, tailoring care for the whole person. Understanding the person, the different possible mechanisms of the symptoms, possible treatment and management options and treating each person as an individual, is important and an essential part of making changes. In PoTS one mechanism that needs targeting is the autonomic nervous system, PoTS is a dysautonomia which is an autonomic dysfunction. A level of autonomic dysfunction is also always present in ME/CFS, long covid, fibromyalgia and persistent pain in general. Another mechanism that can be part of PoTS is MCAS, this is something that Ann considers in her assessment and if this may be something that is relevant for you she will suggest seeing a specialist in this condition. Your story will always be compassionately heard, Ann understands the importance of this. Working together we can make changes to help you do what you love, live well & thrive again.
