Core Value At Unity Physiotherapy & Wellbeing

Trauma-Informed, Compassionate Care

Values Introduction

At Unity Physiotherapy & Wellbeing some core values shape everything I do — from how I connect with each person to how I deliver care.  They guide a trauma-informed approach that prioritises compassion, safety, trust, empowerment and collaboration.  These values aren’t just theoretical —they are lived, felt, and embodied in every interaction. They provide a foundation for meaningful, ethical, and person-centred physiotherapy and integrative wellbeing support.

Compassion

Compassion is central at Unity Physiotherapy & Wellbeing, and it’s also one of my own personal core values.  It is more than being kind — it is a caring, wise and courageous motivation to notice and be with suffering, and take wise, supportive action.

In trauma-informed care, compassion create a safe and supportive environment.  It involves being fully present, curious, listening deeply, and acknowledging each person’s experience without judgment.  I am committed to meeting people with compassion, working collaboratively from a place of trust, understanding, and shared humanity.  Compassion is a strong foundation and it’s at the heart of care.

Empowerment

Everyone has the right to feel informed, involved, and in control of their care.  Ensuring people have choices is important in my approach and a key trauma-informed practice principle.

Empowerment means creating real opportunities for choice, collaboration, and autonomy.  I support each person to be an active participant in their wellbeing journey – through shared decision-making, personalised treatment planning, or simply offering space to be compassionately heard.  You’ll never be told what to do, we work together to explore what feels right for you.  This approach builds trust and helps you reconnect with your own inner strength, wisdom, and capacity for change.

Communication

How we communicate matters — with others and with ourselves.

Clear, honest, and compassionate communication creates safety, trust, and clarity. I aim to communicate transparently, kindly, and in ways that are empowering.  This ensures you feel heard, understood, and informed every step of the way.

Creativity

Creativity supports flexibility, openness, and choice — all essential in compassionate, trauma-informed care.

Being creative means tailoring each person’s care uniquely.  It can involve blending different therapeutic approaches, encouraging gentle exploration, or using tools like drawing or expressive writing when helpful.  Creativity also brings playfulness, which can be restorative, regulating and supports learning.  You don’t need to feel creative to benefit — it’s about creating space for discovery safely and respectfully.

Honesty

Honesty and integrity form the ethical foundation of my work.

Consistency, openness, and clear boundaries help nurture safety and build trust.  I will always act with honesty and integrity — whether around treatment expectations, professional limits, or sharing knowledge.  You can trust that decisions are guided by what’s in your best interests, grounded in ethical and transparent practice.

Unity

Unity reflects the interconnectedness of all things – people, nature, communities, and even the systems within our own bodies.  Recognising these connections supports healing and growth.

A trauma-informed, compassionate lens sees individuals in context – beyond symptoms, hearing their stories, identifying strengths, and nurturing relationships.  At Unity Physiotherapy & Wellbeing, I hold space for the whole person, honouring their experiences and supporting wellbeing with compassion.  This helps create the internal conditions needed to thrive.

Final Thoughts

These values guide every part of my work.  They shape the way I show up, the environment I create, and how we work together.  Care, compassion, respect, empowerment and collaboration are at the heart of all of my work.

At Unity Physiotherapy & Wellbeing, my work is guided by trauma-informed principles, compassion, connection, nervous system regulation, wellbeing, and supporting people to thrive.  My wider purpose is to help create a more trauma-informed and compassionate society – and all of my work, and how I chose to live reflect this.
