Awakening the Body’s Wisdom: A Somatic Workshop Series

‘Encouraging Somatic Awareness, Compassion, Wellbeing & Thriving’

A series of interconnected online workshops exploring nervous system regulation, embodied compassion, compassionate boundaries, values-aligned living, integration, and restorative rest.

Introduction

Welcome to Awakening the Body’s Wisdom – a collection of workshops that form part of the Listening to Our Inner Wisdom offerings.   This page shares an overview of the four-part core series, as well as the two-part Embodied Rest workshop series.

Each series invites you into different aspects of embodied wellbeing: from cultivating nervous system awareness and compassionate presence to setting boundaries, living in alignment with your values, and integrating rest as  foundational parts of personal growth and healing.  These workshops are designed to support deeper connection—to your body, your inner experience, to others and the wider web of life, and your innate capacity for healing and growth.

More detailed information is available through a free 15-minute pre-booking call and a ‘What to Expect’ PDF for each part of the core series.

Workshops Overview

Part One: The Foundations of Nervous System Regulation

This 4-week online workshop series introduces the foundations of nervous system regulation through a blend of theory, somatic and embodiment practices, mindfulness-based tools, and reflective exploration.  Over series, we explore what nervous system regulation is and what this means to you using the Window of Tolerance Model, Polyvagal Theory and the Three Circles Model from Compassionate Mind Training.

The intention is to support regulation, build trust and safety in the body, and help you befriend your nervous system and your whole being with compassion.

Designed to be empowering, the series offers tools and insights to help you reconnect with your body, deepen self-awareness, and cultivate greater wellbeing in everyday life.  While not a therapy group, the workshops offer therapeutic, body-based practices that can gently support personal growth and healing.

They are suitable both for those without specific health conditions and for people navigating chronic challenges such as persistent pain, fibromyalgia, Long Covid, ME/CFS, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), anxiety, chronic stress, and trauma.

Part Two: Embodied Compassion

This 8-week online workshop series focuses on self-compassion and cultivating the compassionate self through embodied compassionate-focused practices.  It integrates theory and neuroscience of compassion, mindfulness, somatic and compassion practices – particularly from Compassionate Mind Training (part of Compassion Focused Therapy).  They are about more than the 8 weeks – they are about developing awareness, skills, strategies and practices that support nervous system regulation and a compassionate way of being.

Compassion is beneficial & essential for everyone and supports our health & wellbeing in a variety of ways.  It can also be a powerful support when living with long-term health conditions, chronic stress, or the effects of trauma.  Research has shown many benefits, including that compassion can help reduce self-criticism, anxiety and shame, and increase resilience and wellbeing.  Compassion can play a role in managing pain and fatigue and potentially changing it too.

Over the course of the series, we’ll explore:
