Integrative Compassion-Focused Coaching & Mentoring

Supporting compassionate, trauma-informed, sustainable practice
What is Integrative Compassion-Focused Coaching & Mentoring?

Integrative Compassion-Focused Coaching & Mentoring is grounded in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and trauma-informed principles, and draws on a range of modalities that I’m trained in.  It supports health and social care professionals in developing compassionate, trauma-informed, and sustainable professional practice and ways of being through:

  • Coaching and reflective practice
  • Mindfulness-based and somatic approaches
  • Embodiment practices
  • Mentoring principles to cultivate ethical, compassionate, and sustainable ways of working
  • Strengths-based approaches to build on existing capabilities and resilience
  • Supervision-informed practices, including reflective inquiry, ethical awareness, attention to power and boundaries, and care for practitioner wellbeing

This approach helps professionals embed these principles into everyday practice, and supports workplace culture work by supporting leaders and practitioners to embody trauma-informed compassionate ways of being.  This work recognises that how we are in our professional roles shapes not only individual wellbeing, but also team culture, ethical practice, and the systems we work within – and that these ways of being often reflect how we relate to ourselves and others in life more broadly.

While this work draws on supervision principles, it does not replace formal line management or required clinical supervision.  In terms of the compassion aspect, it draws on Compassionate Mind Training (part of CFT) and other compassion-focused practices, which you can explore in more about here:

My Experience & Approach

I draw on extensive training and experience supporting:

  • Students (including formal student supervision training)
  • Junior staff and rehabilitation assistants
  • Colleagues through reflective, developmental, and mentoring relationships

This experience, combined with my background in physiotherapy, integrative somatic practice, and coaching, allows me to provide a supportive, reflective, and practical safe space for exploration and development.

Participants may bring any aspect of their professional practice or experience they wish to explore — including clinical challenges, team or relational dynamics, ethical dilemmas, personal impact of caring roles, or professional development goals.

Sessions can be delivered:

  • Individually – tailored 1:1 reflective coaching and mentoring
  • In small groups – supporting shared reflection, peer learning, and collaborative development

Within these sessions, we explore real work situations, reflect on practice, and apply Compassion Focused Therapy, trauma-informed principles, and strengths based approaches drawn from positive psychology.  This provides space not only to discuss cases and reflect on challenges but also to develop professional skills, build confidence, and enhance capacity for compassionate, effective practice.
